Why we continue to fight.

We recently had a setback when a majority of the county commissioners in Pasco County decided to side with the Lago Verde sand mine and allow them to begin active limestone mining. My guess is that their primary reason was to avoid a threatened lawsuit from the mine. This mining will involve blasting a large deep hole into the Florida Aquifer, lots of trucks, daily crushing of limestone rock producing lots of noise and tons of dust.  So we as a community decided that this was too much and that we couldn't just roll over and allow this damage to our community, to our neighborhood, to the aquifer and to the many animals that call this area their home. These are just some of the reasons that we continue to fight. We just recently challenged the County's decision in court and we will continue this fight as long as it takes. We ask that the community join us, not only those that live near the mine but those of you who are in Hernando County as well. The Florida aquifer flows north from Pasco County. In addition we ask for support from all Floridians concerned about our precious water supply as well as all those concerned about the potential environmental damage that could occur from this mining. Any and all support will be greatly appreciated. Let us know what you think.

Thanks - Terry.
